January 2012

We have so much to be thankful for this year! In November 2011, we hosted our first ever Sunriver Equine Thanksgiving. That day, we spent time with our horses and enjoyed friends and family.

This month, Lauren Koller and I, have been working on our Mission Statement and objectives for our new program. We are in the draft stages but moving forward. We would like to call our organization, "Sunriver Equine Rescue and Youth Therapy."
We are blessed with so many people who have expressed interest in helping, many who would like to serve on our board.  Once we have our main values and ideas recorded, we will plan our first meeting in January. This is also the month we will be filling out paperwork and working toward our Non-profit status.

I will be beginning my mentorship in Therapeutic Riding the first week of January 2012. Amanda Harper, our current trainer and riding instructor, is also interested in certification so we will be well staffed for children and their individual abilities and needs.

In January we will also be opening our doors to children interested in becoming "Junior Volunteers." This opportunity will help teach self-confidence and build trust between the child and horses we have here already. We have already had a few families express interest in helping ( :

2012 Promises to be a BIG year for us. Thank you all for your continued kind words, support and prayers.
